Cut-back sxr prop not fitting in x2

Installing this sxr prop in my x2. Cut back 6mm all three cuts were made so I thought it would have no problem fitting. I was thinking maybe would have to make small adjustments to motor mounts but there is no reason the pump should be this far off. My motor is all the way forward so can’t make up this space up there. Not sure if I did something wrong here. Am I supposed to machine the collar down between the bearing and the prop?
Anyone else have this problem before 44CB2C56-B1F8-439E-94B2-FF465D9D1BEF.jpegB157F09C-6256-4BC8-81F3-4A4280683212.jpeg994CF589-F29C-4CA1-99F7-0AEE31BF7D21.jpeg

Should just need to be cut back. Not sure what other 2 cuts we're talking about. Are you sure the splines are lined up and engaged?

You can't just put put a setback SXR prop into a 650 ski. 750 models have longer spline sections than 650 models. For the 650sx you can just run a 750SS sitdown drive shaft, but the X2 does not have any 750/800 swappable drive shafts. You can fix this problem one time by machining the front of the prop, or you can permanently fix this problem by having the drive shaft splines lengthened on your X2. I have a bunch of X2 pieces so I just ground an extra shaft down on a bench grinder so the shaft would slide all the way into the prop.

Modifying the shaft is the better long term investment because you can later swap in a 800 pump and not have an issue. Swapping an 800 pump with a stock driveshaft requires the pump to be set back or every 800 prop you use to have the splines cut. Having the X2 driveshaft splines modified to match the 800 splines is a permanent solution, but much harder to accomplish, so most just cut the props or setback the pumps.

I have an setback stock sxr prop cut 8mm. It was used on a fx1 with 650 pump . If that help you.

People using the FX1 conversions usually use the 750SS ZXI shaft. It is identical to the 650sx shaft (I think) except is has the longer 750 splines. Not directly applicable to X2 as we don't have any 750 driveshafts to use.

Thanks for the info about the splines. I wasnt aware of that...

Fx-1 conversions use a ZXI driveshaft. I ran 10/16 hookers in my fx-1 and x2. Only a cutback was required.

Well, it sounds like we both gave wrong information. Me about the shaft the FX1 uses and you about how to properly cutback a prop to run in a 650 pump. I was just more humble about it. I even included "I think" in my post when referring to the drive shafts swap-ability disclaiming my own lack of information on the subject. Especially relevant because my "bad" information carries NO relevance to the OP question about X2, and was only there to try to stop the misinformation being given by FX1 owners. My information is based upon information from years ago when a FX1 owner sold me a prop for my X2. I think we have identified a pattern here. I guess I made the driveshaft mistake because the seller and I discussed the interchangeability of SX/SS shafts at the time as we worked through the problem.

I'm not trying to start a FX1 vs X2 pissing match, and I have no beef with you, but I'm calling you out on your attitude which includes its own set of mistakes (and frankly no accurate X2 related information).

And no, this forum is nothing like FB....those Dbags are trying to run Minn Kota props in their Hydrospace S4s, and anyone with a clue knows you need a prop from a MotorGuide.

My favorite was the other day "How can I tell how much fuel I have put in my SJ without removing the hood and not spilling any"...........
Or the guys showing off their new painted 550's with tape still on the pole bracket and pole bolts, bars wrapped in paper and tape.............. Yes, the pole is still attached to the ski.

Or "does anyone make a cover that I can use with my handlepole up? Just installed a new Riva Pole Spring"

No worries. Impros did my machining so maybe they did something I don't know about. I do know I can swap pumps between the two (FX and x2) without issue. And I built both 10 years ago. How's your x2 build coming along? Make it to the water yet?

Yeah, I was told impros machines both sides of the prop. I got mine from someone who was using a 750 shaft and had only machined the back side. Neither of us knew both sides needed to be machined until afterwards as we trouble shot the issue. The prop was a good deal and I had extra shafts, and the seller is top notch so I kept it with no complaints.

My X2 has been in and out of the water a lot. People think it's weird but I treat my X2 like an old race car or an SAE club project. I enjoy it for the modification and testing. Everything I have learned about motors and composites is from my X2 project.

Roughly... I've had in my x2 3 different motors, 2 carbs, 3 airboxes, 3 waterboxes, 3 pipes, 4 props, and who knows how many nozzles, intakes, ride plates, tail cones, rear fins, sponsons, rhinoplasty, pontoon kits, major hood modifications, etc. I make sure my Superjet runs flawlessly, and I change things on my X2 just to see what will happen.

See, this is nothing like disgracebook, we can admit when we're wrong, talk it out, learn something and move on. Not a chance on disgracebook Haha
