Someone needs to make a custom battery tray that will securily hold one of the small batteries and a stubby fire extinguisher and still fit into the stock location. I know lots of peeps on here have that kind of skill.

I'm sure we'd be able to sell at least enough to be worth the bother. Any Interest?

What stubby fire extinquisher? I haven't seen one that is coast guard approved. Anyone have a link? I'm up for making it if it's wanted.

The one I saw was the same diameter as the Kidde Mariner 5, just shorter. Now that I think about it, it may have been cut down and is just for looks. I've sent an email asking.

Either way, the socket dimension would be the same and I don't think the height would be a problem. Place the extinguisher upright against the tank on a slight angle so it pulls out clear of the exhaust tube with the battery sideways between the extinguisher and motor. Most guys are cramming the extra space full of rags why not use it and solve two problems in one.

It would be nice to hear from someone with a small battery chime in and maybe have a look to see if there is room to make this happen.

i have a smaller battery and the battery straps are way too big I was thinking of putting a piece of turf on top of the battery and then putting my fire ext. on top of that so the battery srtaps would hold it in, but i am afraid it would fall iut and cause problems. so use the paint program and draw something up and i will give it a shot making something.

Have you had any problems yet with that little battery? On our first ride at Tybee, I would have been stranded if that's all the battery I had

I am trying to find a place for my fire extinguisher actually and figured that this might be a good time to switch to the smaller battery. I never suggested anything, only posted a valid question about a possible product relevant to the many users on here that already run the small battery. No conspiracy, just forward thinking. :scratchchin:

what would the fire extinguisher powder do to a running engine, if it somehow discharged itself under the hood?

Great question. I test drove a used pickup about a month ago and when I checked under the hood I found the air cleaner assembly missing and a fire extinguisher had been used. The entire bay was dusted with that yellow powder. Needless to say I walked away. It's somewhat abrasive so I don't imagine it would be any good.
