crankseal problems

I just had my ski down at pismo this weekend and about 30 mins into riding it started running like crap. I figured it was bad crank seals but I didnt drive down from Sac just to have a broken ski so I rode it running like crap.
Anyway I just pulled the motor now and sure enough the rear seal is popped out by the PTO shaft. I just changed the crank in this thing about 15 hours ago and changed the seals while it was out. I also had the same problem with a waveraider 1100 which has the same crank seals the 701 does. Is there a trick or a special way of putting those back crank seals in or something. I am going to check on the alinment of the motor but I looked at it when I put the motor back in from changing the crank and I didnt check it with a lazer or nothing but it looked like it was lined up good. Any help?

I grease the inside and RTV the outside of all the lip seals I install. I like the 3 Bond for the outside because it's kinda slimy and helps the seal slip in. Once set up, helps the seal stay in.

Use only OEM Yamaha seals! Grease the inside only, use lacquer thinner to wipe the cases and the outside of the seals, to be TOTALLY DRY, no sealer! Let the rubber grip the cases and you WON'T have these problems.
P.S. If you have bad cases eat up with corrosion were the seals locate, I did have use some Honda bond #4 once.

Definately OEM seals only. The second SXR motor i built i ordered some parts from Wamiltons including the seals, the seals they sent me were way off OEM size as soon as i installed them and put the top half of the case on to make sure everything was lined up, the crank would barely turn, there ended up being a lot of resistance. I only use OEM seals and completely dry on the outside of the seal!

The last set I used was from SBT and the set I have coming is from them too. I will have to go to the yamaha dealer and have them order me a set to be safe.

I would just because the smallest difference in size can cause a lot of problems not to mention they won't make a good seal if they have to be forced in to much
