first.

i had to put my 650 back in my ski and found out my 701 carb does not work on my 650 engine.

my 701 would not start and ran like ******** when i last rode it. this weekend it started and blew gas/oil out of the exhaust.

will i need a complete rebuild?

second

a friend of mine went riding and his gas take started to implode. he said it was suck in pretty far.

what is the cause of this? i thought it would be a clogged vent line, but not sure.

thanks for any help.

701: How do you know it was gas and oil blowing out the exhaust? Could it have just been water left in the exhaust that smelled like gas/oil from sitting in there since the last time it was ridden... somethin to think about.

I would start by checking the compression and possibly removing the head to look at the bores and look for scoring. These two things will give you a good idea about the top end. You could perform a leakdown test to check the crank seals. This can be done by plugging the intake and exhaust manifolds and using the pulse line to pressureize the engine. It should hold about 8-10psi for 10 min or so.

hope this helps

the gas tank im not sure about...

Make sure the vent line to the tank is not clogged and that the one way on the tank vent is clear and flows INTO the tank. Also the ventline running up the handpole could be kinked or pinched. Either way the reason the tank is imploding is it's not sucking in any air from the vent to replace the used fuel. Don't let this go unfixed
