Couple of updating questions for the pros

I have a 2000 sxi pro and find it porposus a lot once I get to higher speeds. I'm 6'1" about 215lbs. Wanted to find out if I should shorten or get a new pole that's shorter so I can move my center of gravity up easier or get a trim nozzle etc etc. I also was wondering about pole springs and what brand and model will keep the pole somewhat lifted when it's sitting still. Any advice would be sick. Thanks

I have your ski's twin and love it. I have not done these mods as I am more of a rec rider, but have read that a long ride plate and even hull extensions do wonders for the porpoising. WDK sells the extensions for $150

The shorter pole will also help get your weight forward.
GroupK has effusive praise for our beloved SXiPro once their race handling package is installed:

The 3D-R Handling Package
This package consists of two basic components. The “front sponsons” are 12mm thick fiberglass panels that affix to each side of the hull, and the “end caps” that attach to the rear of the hull on either side of the pump exit.

The rear end caps serve to keep the nose of the hull down at high speed, and thereby dramaticly reduce porpoising. Equally important, these caps have been carefully designed to hold the nose down while the hull is at angle (while negotiating high speed turns). Unfortunately, the end caps by themselves tend to drive the nose of the boat down very hard during high-speed straight-line operation. Hence it is not advisable to use them alone.

The front sponsons actually make the footprint of the forward hull a bit wider, thus offering more lift. This added lift keeps the end cap forces from driving the nose downward during high-speed straight-line operation. In addition, these sponsons offer better buoyancy when negotiating high-speed turns, resulting in better control. Using the front sponsons alone is not advisable, as that could result in excessive porpoising (without the down-force offered by the end caps).

Installing the 3D-R kit on a stock SXi will result in a speed loss of about 1 mph, but every test rider has agreed that 1mph was a tiny price to pay for the huge improvements in overall handling and control.

I've heard of people putting washers on the two bolts at the back of the ride plate to shim the ride plate away from the hull a little bit. That will force the nose down a little more.

I'm running the WaterDawg hull extensions as well as Blowsion Tubbie 2's up front. Hands down the best thing I ever did the my Pro. The 3DR stuff is impossible to find.

Don't forget the pros come stock with pump wedges . Make sure the wedge is set up so the nozzle shoots down a little . I like mine to ride nose high and I have two wedges placed so my nozzle points up a couple degrees .it sucks for drag racing right out of the whole because it porpoises like crazy from a idle ,but other then that I love it for my style of riding .when my brother gets on it who is taller and thicker he hates it proposing .i should also mention I have tubbies so it's pretty stable otherwise

Oh and also a alternative to instslling a whole new spring depending on how weak yours is a spring block riser they sell .i grabbed one on eBay for a decent price and it helped my pole feel lighter like a new spring

I have 3DR front sponsons and blowsion hull extensions on my pro. With the full 800 Superstock I'm running it's a necessity. I'm also running a skat trak intake grate and that really pulls the ski to the water. With all this stuff done it feels locked in turns like a sxr does. 80% sxr performance at like 30%the cost. The problem is the ski becomes way less playfull and is a very specific carving machine. It jumps super flat and doesn't leave the water much period. Fine if you want a buoy carver. And even more importantly it doesn't porpoise at all!!

If I could do things again I would put on pro watercraft racing front sponsons. Those would have a more pronounced effect than the 3drs and do a better job of counteracting the nimbleness you lose with the hull extensions.

My brother has a really well set up freestyle 800 pro that's a lot of fun and like the exact opposite of mine. Supper light nose and it jumps amazing. Pros seem to be ok all around skis stock with moderate power, but when you put a ton of power you make them less well rounded and more into a specific type of ski. I really like the hull, it's my favorite after the 08+ sj and 550.

I did not know about the nozzle wedges. How can I tell how mine is set up and where can I get wedges if it doesn't have any. I bought it from someone last year so I don't know if he did anything with them.

My ski seems to be running pretty hot. I mean the pipe going to the water box which I think is the exhaust right? That's basically on fire. The guy I bought the ski from bypassed the "water sensor" thing that's connected to the electrical panel saying it was clogged up or something. Would this have anything to do with that and where can I get a new "sensor". The spit nozzle does not shoot out water it's pretty much dribbling out in a constant but low flow.
