Super Jet Contradicting information.

One of the first things I learned on this site was that we must use epoxy resin to mechanically bond new glass to our cracks and mods, but the SN/FX1 manual say to use polyester resin and gelcoat for small scratches.

Fx1s are fiberglass top/bottom deck whereas SN top deck is metton ( mutant plastic compound that burns when sanded lol).

I think someone was not careful when creating that manual for two different skis.

Kind of off topic and the actual material is really similar but I thought the bottom deck was formed with and by SMC, not injected with RIM like Metton.

As far as I know the SN top deck is metton and bottom SMC. Both of which I thought needed epoxy. I really hope this is just a [big] typo in the manual as I really don't feel like having my understanding of composites being blown up. lol

Haha, nah man. I don't mean to mess up your brains. As best I know RIM just like SMC are thermoset molding processes that primarily use polyester - it's just a different manufacturing process. I always just thought the top dec was laid Fiberglass and the bottom deck was SMC. On the round noses I'm pretty sure it's fiber glass, I guess I haven't taken a close enough look at my SN top deck to realize what it is made out of!
