Has any one tried Cnc porting cylinders? I have been thinking of this for a while they do it to 4 stroke heads all the time. If some one could do it it could really lower the cost of a consistant rec port or freestyle port cylinder

CNC porting with the sleeves installed requires expensive equipment. Removing/reinstalling sleeves is too time consuming. It is much easier to use hand tools and pay yourself $100/hr. It not like the customer knows what he wants or what he is getting anyway.

What kevbo said......I have the equipment and staff to do it and have done it along with adding PV's to non PV cylinders......for me its cheap and a fun project for the shop guys.......you don't want to know what the cost is if I billed it.

Is it the set up that's so costly or is the the r&d that's expensive? I feel the exhaust port would be very easy to do compared to the transfer ports.

A Coe worker and I were just toying with the idea of doing some mild exhaust porting.

We got 6 a couple years ago new after a shop fire. 2 doodans the rest haas. I have to feed these things work everyday. Lucky we have a lot of in house g code automation for holes and angles. What do you do Jeremy? I engineer tooling for automotive makers.

I do lathe set up. On mazak they are conversational so it's easy to program.
We do a lot in the fire arm industry the shop I work for has there ffl so we have are own line of ar15 up/lower/bolt assembly and we do the same for the ar10

I do second run jobs set up. So I'm a set up guy in training. How ever I write my own programs for personal stuff. Owner of the shop has given me the green light to start my own jet ski product line on the weekends!
