Billet stroker cranks could be fun, but are connecting rod kits of proper configurations readily available? I would love to do something like this for a 66e or a 1300r..........holla back.

I'm sure the rods wouldn't be a problem since most stroker cranks under 6mm use the stock 128mm 64X rods or Hot Rods and the 8mm and up cranks use the longer 133mm Kawasaki rods.

Don't even know if anyone even offers a stroker for the 66e or 60T because they have 78mm long stroke engine.

The crank webs would have to be made out of chrome-moly-nickel forged steel and would have to be heat treated for durability and the rest of the crank would be using existing parts.

If you could get some M8x1.25mm Titanium bolts in 85mm length for the case bolts or M10x1.25mm in the 40mm, 70mm and 80mm length for the bead plates you might save a pound.

thanks mike,i'll measure some stuff out and get back to you.there are plenty of co. selling on internet but price is prohibitive and i'm not going to buy a box of 100 for better pricing either.i guess the hardware is forged though.

Crank throws should indeed be made of 4130. Are there many companies building billet stroker cranks for the Yamaha twin cylinder engines? Are they expensive?
Are all big cc versions of the 1300R done as big bore setups or are there altered stroke setups out there? Why are the big bore 1300R kits so high, is there something I'm missing? Isn't it basically a resleeve with fat pistons?

There is only one company making stroker cranks for the Yamaha engine in the US right now and that's Crankworks. Pro-Tec and RAD used to make them but not anymore. They used to be cheaper but they are up too almost 1400 bucks right now.

Also the price of Lamey cylinders has gone up too and I would like to see some different CNC cylinder designs that would be more affordable.

The GP1300 cylinder can not be bored much bigger because the cylinders have a Nikasil coating which is expensive to recoat.

i am going to try, it just depends on if my freeride funds hold out. i know i will be in greenville, sc sometime this summer to see my sister. i am planning on brining the ski's then. its not close but closer then i am now. i would be interested in seeing your operation if i make it up there sometime.

This was my first head i made when i was trying out the drawings i did for size

I also made a stroker crank out of wood as well
It actually looks quite cool
I am going to use it a as a baby rattle for my new born

with the price of copper right now, you'd have to have an armed guard posted near it at all times to keep the crackheads from stealing it and selling it for scrap :biggrin:

So true. I met a guy the other day that said he got paid 200 bucks a piece to remove two trailers from this guy's property. He said he made 40k scrapping them out! I think I better start collecting more junk! trailers are simply a steal frame, aluminum siding, copper pipes, copper wire... Hello $$$

Its a bit of rose wood
it would be hard to torque down and once it fired the plug it would turn to splinters
other than that it would be awesome

$1400 sounds pretty stout, I take it this is a very low volume item. The cylinder design is the issue for me, I know nothing of proper port layout and the like. The manufacturing of the cylinder is the easy part.
