clearence issue

im putting a big pin out of a 94 ss xi in my 86 x2. with the stock 38's on it, it wont clear the hull brace on the right side. i heard of a trick using two stock carb covers and modding them but i did and i still need about an inch to clear. i def dont want to try and bend or manuver the brace. does anyone else out there know what i should do? aftermarket filters/ flame arrestors is all i can think of doing. if so any reccomendations??

I have been running no braces for 3 seasons, on 3 stock hulls....no problems. My brother has as well. I am pretty sure even legdragger was not running any.....and if he didnt break it, I doubt anyone will. Unless you plan on BF'ing the X2 big, I think you'll be just fine without it. Stock hulls are built like tanks under the steering area.

The hull has significant flex w/o the hull braces. It actually has a fair amount of flex with the hull braces. I'd say run it without the braces but if you have problems with your hood seal and water in the hull then you'll probably need to put them back in. I'd agree that you braking the hull is unlikely to be a concern. I went with just the left side brace when I had dual carbs. I don't think flex is what causes my hood leaks.

As I recall, Pete had been complaining about a lot of water getting in, and couldn't explain where it was coming from.

It comes in from the back lower portions of the hood in significant amounts. Water leaks in from all over the place in addition. The hood is very poorly designed and all X2's are going to take on water with the stock set up. The key is doing what you can to minimize it and getting it out fast. Scuppers are not a wise solution in my opinion.

pull the braces and run the jetskihaven hull brace. i am running the stockers and the uper brace but i am pushing the envelope and have already had to reinforce the hull due to cracks from rolls coming up short.

Putting in a new brace to keep the hull from cracking wont help you land clean rolls. However, landing clean rolls will keep the hull from cracking. I think the solution is rather obvious... :swordfight:
