So I did the search but no one had pics of what they were cleaning out so I don't know if those answers will apply to me as well (carb clearner, purple power, bleach...)

Here's a pic of the inside of my 5 year old gas jug, is it cleanable? I had already tried to spray water at it and rinse it around so this is what's left.

thanks.

It looks like a porta-potty. Do you always carry it around with you?

On the serious note, try some kerosene for a couple of hours, then flush the jug out with water for some time. You are going to hate the smell, I know I do.

I don't know if B-12 Chemtool would soften the plastic, but I do know it will strip that varnish off of there quick. You may buy some and test it on the bottom of the can to see if it weakens the plastic any.

So I forgot I had some lacquer thinner laying around. Put some of that in swished it around, shook it up and it took care of it! Did a second rinse with it just to make sure, then a final rinse w/ some gas and it's good to go! thanks for the ideas and all the help.
