Clean Boating Act 2008 - Everyone needs to read this

The Penguin

triple secret probation
(I copied this from another site I read, but it would effect us as well):

For those that don't know (and for those that do), there is pending legislation that will require all recreational boaters to obtain a permit to operate their boat.

The ASA has set up a site to make it really easy to contact your congressman and tell them you support the Clean Boating Act which will permanently exempt recreational boaters from this ridiculous legislation.

It would mean that people like me (college students) would not be able to afford the water anymore. 32,000 penalty? Thats bull********. I would not register my 3 skis if this happened, mabye one, and then Ill velcro back the sticker so I can swap it in between all 5 boats

Sent as well..........and sent link to everyone I know to complete as well.

Government BS !!

They need to worry more about the large corps dumping then the people trying to enjoy the water.

I just received this from one of our senators

Dear Mr. Kubit:

Knowing of your concerns abou t the Clean Boating Act of 2008 ( S. 2766), I would like to update you on my recent actions regarding this legislation.

You will be happy to know that I am a cosponsor of this important bill. S. 2766 would exempt recreational boats from a potentially burdensome environmental permit process. I know recreational boaters care about the health of the Chesapeake Bay and all of Maryland 's waterways, as do I. But these boaters do not need to be subjected to a new permitting process.

This legislation is currently pending in the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works. Knowing of your support for this bill will be helpful to me.

Thank you for allowing me to update you on my efforts. Please let me know if I can be of assistance to you in the future.

Sincerely,
Barbara A. Mikulski
United States Senator
