I was thinking about shortening the nose of my SN a bit to but wasn't sure how to go about shortening the bottom deck up front and still keeping a decent ride. You should be the guinea pig.

I havent gotten much done, but I did chop off one of the sides and half azzed scraped the old turf off. I don't know what that turf was glued on with but it was on there!

what should i fill the underside of the tray with? I have heard ping pong balls, water bottles, pink polystyrene, blue poly, 4lb foam.... I am going to put drains in so "pour" foam is out.

Dont fill it... fill the gunwales only, and those with 2 part foam.

Do it similar like superjett, it wont get wet anymore.

You lose lots of weight and also if you widen the hull with divinycell foam it add also weight and foam in your ski.

I'm planning on doing semi-foamless. I put a half sheet of polystyrene in it and no expanding foam because that stuff SUCKS and absorbs water like a sponge!! The entire sheet weighs about 3 lbs so half a sheet is nothing. The trick will be getting the deck fairly flat without having anything to lay the fiberglass on.

i made some progress today, but not much. i cut off the other side and cut out the tray. I found a snickers wrapper in the foam when i was ripping it out.?. here are some pics of what is done so far. Still have tons of work to do. next i am going to cut the nose. i haven't figured out exactly how to do it yet, but i want to give it a rickter fs-1 style nose. any ideas????

just got back from vacation so now i will be focused on this build. While i was on vacation i ordered a water box from naty matty at ski inovations. it is super small and weighs almost nothing, it also has a mount so it doesn't slid around in the ski and won't need starped down! i will post some pics later tonight.

LOTS of polystyrene...that two part foam sucks donkey balls!

the lowes here in beaufort doesn't carry polystyrene and the awesomeworkers there don't even know what it is. so i have to wait until i get off of work on monday to try to find some. i am using polystyrene in the bottom and building my gunwales out of 2 part foam, but i am going to glass the whole bottom of the tray in so it is sealed and then 2 part foam on top of that to build the gunwales. i am going to shape my own footholds and front foothold out of 2 part and then glass over it. I hope i don't run into the same problem i had last time, the resin was eating the foam while drying.
