chine mod

has anyone made the chines deeper on a superjet hull? basically take some 5/16 fiberglass rod and glass it over the chine with a few layers of glass. I know one long time riding buddy has done it and said it did help handling. Just interested to see if others have done something similar

I think I will try this over the off season. According to my very experienced riding group there is something wrong with my hull. So I may end up refoaming in which case I'll have the materials for this mod.

Or if anyone has an 08+ superjet hull for sale that hasn't been cut up for a reasonable price, hit me up

I did om my sj when i rockered the nose, -4 the rear, and 5/16 dowel on the chines. hooks like its on rails, and handles amazing, but can also still break it loose when i want

theres some pics on my 02 superset build if you click on my profile then postings. can't find the pics on my photos otherwise id post in here for you

So I finally got around to doing this mod, I have them all faired down to shape. Trying to decide if I should cover the bodywork with a layer or two of 7 oz cloth. My thought is this will leave an edge for water to possibly get under. So I'm thinking instead just sealing the bodywork with epoxy primer and using the boat epoxy white I've ordered to paint the hull. I used "water proof" fillers so I think this will work. Anyone have advice on this?

So I ended up laying 2 layers of 7 oz cloth over the bodywork. That's definitely the way to do it. Epoxy resin is amazing. It feathers out a lot better than polyester soaked cloth (imo).

Question now is do I really need to spray epoxy primer over the worked area? I ordered some and it won't make it here in time to go with my plan to paint it tomorrow. I am using interlux epoxy paint that is for under the waterline (i got the stuff with no biocide). i think it might cover ok without a primer based on the instructions. It is the bottom of a trailered boat, doesn't really concern me how it looks just needs to be durable. Planning on spraying it but Im open to suggestions
