Super Jet chin pad mod

just installed a cold fusion turn plate and straight bars on my 2000 sj now at full lock the throttle cable hits the chin pad its a stock throttle and chin pad i assume the fix here is to cut the chin pad for clearance? kinda hate to go cutting since its mint. should i ditch the stock cover cut it for clearance then put hydroturf on it?

I don't think you can remove enough of the chin pad and still retain the mounting tabs. I ended up making my own chin pad by doing an overlay of the glass part of the pole and then shaping that to resemble a stock pad, but with clearance for all steering components. I turfed and bolted it directly to the top of the upper bracket instead of using the stock holes. You can message me and I can text you some pics if you want.

I was able to grind away some of the plastic at the mounting tab to get to the middle screw with the steering nubbin on my UMI setup. With it at the outer hole it would interfere and slightly bind the steering cable shaft.

I re-positioned the nubbin on the nozzle to get more "quick steer'iness". I think it moved about 1/2in inwards. I just did a bit of sanding/filing and flame polishing for the connector to clear. This gains you more than moving to the outer hole as well.
