Checking Jetski Hull on Plane

Ive searched the forum and cant seem to locate the topic. Im looking into purchasing a hull and am wondering if anyone has ever checked a Hull as luggage at the airport. I frequent Delta often for work and am thinking of passing it off as windsurfing equipment. I understand that shipping is quite easy but am seeking all options prior to arrangement. Delta charges $150 for windsurfing equipment not over 115 inches and under 70lbs. Thoughts?

I don't think you're going to be able to swing this one. I've tried to do it via Amtrak. Waste of my time. Get a ground carrier. Should be able to do it for $300-$400 after you crate it. That's what all mine were. Hurricane was able to get my recent Ski cross country for $200 if I remember using a cardboard box.

I've been told by several overseas riders that they were able to check empty hulls on a regular flight. Engines and fuel tanks had to be packaged separately. There was even a company that was making bags for hulls specifically for this at one time. I don't know which airline they were using but it would be worth investigating.
