back when i had my first squarenose it had an aftermarket filter on it and would suck water straight in...quick, cheap, and easy solution......rummage through the cupboards, and in the garage....find an old or one nobody cares about tupperware tub that fit's over the filter.place it upside down over the top and insert a couple small screws into the top of that k&n that way water is deflected and it will now suck air in from underneath the bowl..works perfect

cool. ready to hit the water.. tupperware: check. laundry exhaust hose?: check. redneck handholds?: check. well at least i know the carb wont get wet, put some holes in the side of the tupperware to aid in air intake. i was surprised to see that without the drainage mod, the water would have dropped directly onto the front of the carb.
thankz dudes
