Other Check out my new pole

Just replaced my cracking SXR fiberglass pole for an adjustable xmetal pole. Im not a huge fan of the erector style RRP poles. The xmetal pole seemed best and included everything I needed.

I thought I will post some pictures, since it was super hard for me to find pictures of this setup before I bought it.... Thanks to rollin5150 and fast superjet chase for providing some of the only pictures, and his help with the install.

Overall installation was kind of a PITA. I had to drill out all the SXR rivets to get to the OEM pole and remove the OEM bump stops. The pole comes setup for dual breathers and the SXR only has the single tube coming up. I was told to do the "bigfish" mod and cut it to reduce pinching wires/easier installation. I couldn't justify cutting my new pole, and decided not to cut it like Rick at Xmetal told me to. I don't think it would be possible to run this without the adjustable steering from Xmetal. The turn cable is kind of funky and I wasn't able to get the adapter to work. Everything needed adjustment/modification. Luckily the adjustable steering lets me install the cable waaay back. The chin pad was also a bit of a challenge to get the clip in the pole.

In the end all the hard work was worth it. The pole looks awesome on the SXR, and forces me to keep the pole down riding much more aggressive through the turns.

What do you think?

Looks good. I agree, the RRP poles are not near as "sexy" as the x-metal.

We had glass down here on Monday. Not a soul at Lake Meredith, had it all to ourselves!

Ya, after labor day everyone seems to pack it up for the winter. I havent even needed a wetsuit yet! We have been lucky with warm weather and plenty of water this year.

Whats the water temp at Lake Meredith?

Looks good! Glad I was able to help. That damn chin pad can be a pain in the ass the first time installing. I think I spaced the clip with some washers to make it more friendly. The shorter pole did wonders for my riding as well.

Now we just need to get you some footholds and turf the rails!!

IDK if I want to do it in my SXR, its far from my Superjet in freestyle.

At first I didnt like the pole short, it felt too different. But after riding it for 5 min I loved it, makes you lean into the turns more and doesent feel so topsy turvey. Makes me keep the pole low and lean the hull into the turn.

the trick to the chin pad install is to loosen the the screws holding the clip to allow more gap, slide on then tighten clip... :)

looks great ! best looking pole on market for sure...

It's so thin!

Out of curiosity, were you the one hassling the guy for not "taking turns jumping the wake when no one else is jumping the wake"? :silly:

Stock SXR bracket with stock spring

What he said

My spring would make the pole float just slightly, the only problem is you have to remove the pin from the bracket that hold up the pole. Therefore you have no way of keeping your pole up to take off the hood.

For now I am running the pole slightly tight so it will stay in its position. It takes some getting used to but I think it will be alright. I kind of want to figure out how to modify and get a type of pole pin back in.

Looks really good. I think i'm gonna go w/ this pole now. i had no idea they were so much thinner than the stock pole

I am assuming you mean vs Superjet haha

It's like 1/3 the size of an SXR pole! No, you can really see the difference in the first pic next to my stock SJ pole.
