cheap footholds and defoaming questions...

So I have a bare hull right now (91 SN). Doing some sanding to get ready for paint, but I'm thinking about footholds and redoing my tray. I'll search for all the info on how to do both, that's not my question. The question is, should I do it. I'm on a somewhat limited budget, so I can't drop $150 on a set of footholds, especially since I don't plan on riding a ton of surf and I'm not into rolls(yet..?). But the hull I picked up didn't come with any turf. The tray looks like it has a little wave to it as well. I have no history on this hull besides the guy I bought it from painted over a hole in the bottom and I almost sunk the ski first ride out. So that's why it's a bare hull again and getting a fresh start.

Any ideas or advice would be good. I heard surfjetlouie has some cheap holds. As for the tray, just haven't done much research and not really sure what I would be getting myself into...

thanks!

I've been doing some serious searching and it looks like one hell of a job. Especially for a guy with no air tools. I'm almost thinking of doing some foot holds since they seem pretty easy and putting the ski back together. Meanwhile, try and find a nice hull over winter and doing all the hull mods to that, so I don't screw myself for winter riding...

i'm in the same boat, do it! i just started to defoam it. I cut the hole tray out, lots of waves too. Your at this pont, and in the future you'll end up wanting these things. i'm going to put a one way valve, extra 1/2" tube for trim nozzle, footholds, and new foam, seal, and reenforce the back. i was just working on it and found water in the back, good thing i decided to do it. these thing don't coast much. pvc is cheap you can get a one way valve from blowsion for 30, make your own fiber tube. Foam is 56 or so plus shiping, i think it's worth it. It just takes time to do it.

oh i don't have air tools either. to cut the glass i used a 4 1/2 grinder with a thin cutoff wheel, works good. if you need some tools go to harbor frieght, there cheap and work ok.
