guessing around 4-6 amps, and probably 16 volts or so open circuit, the battery hooked up probably keeps it to about 13.8-14V while its running.

ummmm, no.
I dont think its regulated like an automotive system.
the ski puts out electrons when it runs.
if the battery is fully charged and you ride a full long ride at high RPMs, the only thing keeping the battery from getting over charged is the wimpy 4-6 amp output and the internal resistance of the battery itself.
