Charging system check Question

Here's what I think

Check the battery voltage before you start the ski. For a good, fully charged battery, that should be right around 12.7V.
Then start the ski - it's best to rev it up a little (stronger stator output).
The voltage should be in the 13's I believe.
For better pro-advice, give John @ Jetskolutions a call. He's quite good with the electrical stuff, and I know he can walk you through it.
At PWCT in the long gone Tech FAQ was an article about that subject written by him.

I believe to check the stator 62T I need 12.6-15.4 ohms between black and white with red trace and between the black to brown with white trace I need 497-608 ohms and green to green is 1.14 to 1.40 ohms
Can someone tell me 61x numbers?

200zxwhy and I tried that test on 4 different skis a while back, none showed an increase in voltage..

I think it takes a while to bring the battery voltage back up enough from the drain of starting it, and that low slow charge is why the batteries dont get cooked by over charging.

on the resistance of the coils, basically look for SOMETHING other than 0 or infinity, likely the windings are solid enough to work if you get anything in between.

Are you saying you saw no difference in voltage whatsoever between running and non-running?
What RPM did you check it at?

no difference whatsoever, from idle or giving it some throttle ( out of the water)

the first ski we checked and showed that, I thought it wasnt charging, then for grins and ********tles we checked all the rest and none showed to be charging, but I know those skis do charge.... well, I assume that, since I never have to charge them.

$15 cheapy digital meter, but it shows the difference in battery voltage on the charger.

Very interesting. There may be a comparator in the CDI to make sure a fully charged battery isn’t charged by the system. I’d be interested in trying that out on a less-than-fully-charged battery.

Ill check it again with a low battery when I get motivated to work on something.
