FX-1 Changing pole spring tension

I did some searching and couldn't find a answer to this. When I bought my FX1 it had a "feather light" pole spring that kept the pole at it's full upright position all the time. I didn't like that so I switched it out with a stock pole spring. Well, I don't really like that either. I want something in between the two and I heard that I can modify the "feather light" pole spring so that it doesn't have as much tension. I'm assuming it involves heating the spring up and bending one of the two spring posts but I am not sure which post, what direction to bend it, and how far to bend it. Has anybody done this that can give me some advice????

I just posted a solution for this, a few weeks ago. I made a jig and it helped me get the perfect tension for what I needed. ps...in terms of heating the spring to bend, don't do it. Once springs are heated they become either a noodle Or they become brittle.
