changing pistons

i just bought an x-2 and now i'm in the process of changing out the pistons after a lock up. what is the easiest way to make the change?

also i had it bored and honed but a spray paint can blew up and sprayed a little bit in to the cylinders. acetone took most of it out and now you can barely see any. its impossible to feel. do i need to hone it again?

Hopefully after the honing you washed/scrubbed with dawn and hot water, hot water rinse, then wiped clean with atf (auto tranny fluid) to get the hone markings clean. This gets you good ring breakin.
If you have not done this, then go back to it and scrup, scrub scrub. Doing this will get the paint residue cleaned off.

No need to hone again if you cant feel the paint.

No worries about the hone.
I think you have a bigger problem on your hands, the paint cans blowing up! What's the reason for that?

i don't know... i think some one ran it over with the tractor and it sprayed every where. .. hmmm that is a good question...:slap:

Yes the rings have small marks on them they face upwards, some pistons use the same ring in the top and bottom lands ,others do not.
