Okay, my Trinity SXR is cavitating bad when you hammer it. If it's moving pretty good already, it is fine, but it is grinding BAD.

I recently filled in the pump shoe, because I wore 2 big holes in it. (It is not perfectly smooth, but no water can get through). It is cavitating WAY WORSE after I fixed it.

Prop and intake are a little beat up too....

What say you?

Prop is stock. Do I just order a SBT replacement?

are you sure the rubber pump seal is good and in place? grinding? wtf is grinding? bearings do go bad, get loose and destroy the outer prop edge. rip it apart and find the problem. it aint rocket science.

Maybe your repair is not even on the backside and you have a gap in the seal.

Take the plugs out and the intake off, spin the drive shaft out of the water, should spin smooth. Check the clearance of the prop to the wear ring, the bearing housing for leaks (would probably be letting water into the ski, but might not), and the pump shoe and seal. Cavitation is only caused by a few things. Too much motor, too much clearance, or too much air.

Spins freely and smooth... Found a nice big fat ding in the impeller. Ordered one from SBT for $60 and a rubber boot. (mine is gone). Intake grate is bent a little too...gonna take that sucker off and fix it up.

Still gotta pull the pump and check the pump seal, but I'lll wait for new impeller to show up.

Do Kawi's have a wear ring? My pump is 2003 (OLD). Probably worn???

Yes. The wear ring is stainless and built into the pump. You can not buy a replacement section like the yamaha.

However, you don't need to buy a new pump.

I had my pump returned by Xactal tool several years back. Liner, bearings, shipping both ways like $250-300. I found the info on this forum, so you might be able to find the post where someone gave me the info with a search, google usually works a lot better.

Harry of bad boys racing said he can do them, I think its like $40-60 but I'm not 100% on that.

Sbt is refurbing them now too. Lots more options now than when I had mine done.

My uncle's machine shop is called Reline. He can probably do it. Anyone know the dimensions of a stock pump? They bore and put sleeves in steel plastic injection molding barrels.

from my experience the rubber boot isn't necessary (atleast for cavitation issues). I lost mine and had a bad vibration, found it laying in the pump. Took it out, rode without it and no cavitation. I have one in there now (because I put a different prop in).
