go to lowes. In the electrical area they have drill bits on a 48" rod. You can use that to drill all the way through. It helps you to also aim as you drill

That's exactly what I used to do mine. I shortened the rod length to reduce the flop and make it more useable. If shipping wasn't a PITA I'd offer to send it.

I had to cut mine down but this one here comes in different lengths, one being 36".
