300/440/550 Castor 927 in 550?

Recently picked up a pair of JS550's that I've got no clue how many hours are on them or how long they've been sitting. Ill do a compression test next weekend on the one that runs.
My question is was it ok to run Maxima Castor 927 @ 25:1 to just get her out on the flats and run her some?
I figured it was prolly a good idea for the first tank, then mix a ill leaner next round?
Is 927 ok on these W/C engines? I use it on my air cooled 2 strokes.

Thanks, I know 25:1 is rich ( kinda a habit I've gotten into on my air 2strokers), I was nervous running 40:1 with not
knowing any history on the ski and the last Reg.shows as 2004, and prior sticker shows 1997.
So 927 is fine for W/C engines? Sorry for the newb question, I've never owned a ski before. I made an assumption that
25:1 was ok to just test her out some and at worst just foul out plugs.
I just downloaded a manual IIRC I should be at 40:1, if so most likely I'll run 32:1 to err on the side of longevity.

Most people run at 50:1; those who run higher performance engines sometimes go with a 40:1 or 32:1

I'd run it at 40:1 and see how it takes.

Sorry dude I couldn't resist! I have thousands of hrs on a 550 myself. The problem with the old skis is that when they need maintenance or something breaks the repair bill is usually twice what you can sell it for in a running condition. That being said I wouldn't run an expensive synthetic oil like 927, you're just throwing your money away. Any TCW-3 rated oil (which you can pick up at any Walmart) will be fine. Mix the fuel at 40:1 or 16oz to 5 gallons. You don't need to double the oil ratio because the ski hasn't been run in a while, If the crank bearings are already toast, double mixing the oil or using an expensive synthetic won't repair the damage. Good luck and have a good time.

Maxima 927 was popular in racing 20 years ago but they were also running 440 pumps and spinning over 8500 rpm. A stock or limited 550 can live on cheap oil. Most old skis have rusty cranks that are time bombs so have fun while it lasts.
