Carnage inside flywheel cover

Ski quit- no spark, pulled cover, stator was chewed up!
Finally got flywheel off
to reveal mostly awol crank seal mfg:

pull flywheel, bendix looks good (dang, spent $200 on a new one)
crank bearings look good, crank tight, smooth . . .
wait a minute, you arent supposed to see bearings?

at least the balls in the bearing didn't fall out. i hate it when that happens.

Looks like you need a new airfilter

so do I:

a. Pound in a new seal, jbweld, superglue, etc. Run her til she blow again . . .

b. Drop lower case and just replace seal.

c: Pull apart motor, bore once over, rebuilt crank, throw good money after bad . . . . .


It had 125 psi ea. before she quit running, but that may have been from the leaking crank seal?

That would only affect the front cyl not the rear,if both had 125 pretty good bet its time to rebuild.
