Blaster Carb Tuning?

Added head and protec pipe to blaster and re-jetting carb with protec kit. Per instructions, turned high speed out 2 turns and low out 1.5 turns. Can anyone tell me the additional adjustments they had to do with a new pipe and high compression head (165) when they put it on the water?

Is this initial setting close? Don't want to so anything that may harm motor once I hit the water.

I think initial setup they give you should be safe settings at sea level. Which would also be safe at higher altitudes. That being said, they may be a little rich, but that's a great place to start if you're new to carb tuning. Burning top ends kind of suck.
This is possibly the best carb tuning info you can get. It's a long read, but totally worth it. I keep a printed copy in our trailer.

Also so we don't know how your ski is running, or how the plugs look.

BTW. Sanoman is a genius on this stuff.

Thanks 775, I will check out the link. Would you start with fresh plugs? My plugs tend to be a little dark, but I think its due to me running the gas with a little more oil. Plan to go to straight 40:1.

Yes, fresh plugs are always a good idea. Although it's sometimes easier to read plugs that have been ran for a while, some builders will say to run new ones right off the bat. The dark color (black and a bit wet, or oily) is normally just rich jetting and carb screw settings. 40:1 will be fine though. That's a pretty average mix to go with and will treat you great.

Post back after a ride. Check your plugs frequently, to make sure it's running richer instead of leaner initially.

Read that manual though. It's a great source of information on tuning and troubleshooting.

Thanks again man, I appreciate the tips. Sometimes its hard to get many reply's here :)

Going to give it a try this Friday if the weather is decent.

Just a basic question, I am guessing if you turn the screw out, it richen it, screw in, it leans it?
