capturing video on pc from a VCR tape?

I would look for one that has a coax input as well. That will give you the ability to record broadcasts with out an additional device. The USB route like linked above is the easiest way to go but capture cards are normally cheaper and do the same thing. Make sure whatever you get comes with the software needed to run it.

I used ot have a video cad that had capture as well. You would just plug in the R/W/Y canbles to the VCR and card. If you do go the tuner route, find one that has TV and FM radio tuners. Then if you have media center you can watch tv/listen to radio with it. I have a USB tuner now for my laptop and it doesnt have any capture software for it nor can it pick up any FM radio :( So make sure you have the software!

Cool, thx for all the replies guys. gives me some ideas where to go. i have a capture card that i bought for my first computer but that was in like 97'. That old PC still runs but very slowly and running win 95. Prolly more of pain in the azz to mess with it than just buying something new.

According to my knowledge, it's a little bit complicated. I heard Roxio has sort of softwarw could do that, you may use google for help.
