Can primers go bad?

Whats up everybody. I finally got my Sxi done and running. I'll post up some pics in my build thread later. For now my question is can the aftermarket primer knob assemblies go bad? Can they be rebuilt? My primer is not sucking fuel out of the gas lines. Once my ski is warmed up its not a big deal but the first start of the day takes it a little while. Any input and help is appreciated. Thanks Guys. Now I'm off to the Lake.

If a primer didn't go out after a year or two, I would be shocked honestly. It's perfectly normal. I don't think you can rebuild them since they are so cheap.

A side effect of them going bad is they can allow air to flow back into the fuel pickup line if you have the tee in your inlet line. Not good.

Rebuilding is a waste of time.. just go to ebay and get one for 5-10 bucks.

My primer was bad. I swapped it out for one that is off one of my Sea Doo's thats getting painted. I might have to try the rebuild to see if its worth the time or just get another one.

I went to harbor freight and picked up a 5 dollar O ring kit with a zillion o rings.

I rebuilt my primer with one of the Orings from the kit and have like 20 of that size left, plus another 380 of other various sizes. Still working a month later with no signs of having any problems. (knock on wood).

Hardest part is taking the black plastic handle off the barbed primer shaft
