I'm having issues here.

1. My brand new battery is dead whenever i go to use my ski. I have a cutoff switch but it doesnt seem to help. I think it's an issue w/ the battery.

2. This is new. Today, i was riding and I couldn't give it full throttle. It would bog down and not accelerate. I had to give it about 1/4 throttle until the engine spun up a little, then i could mash it. If i tried to let it idle it would die after a few seconds. Also, normally when it is warm, i just give it full throttle and it starts fairly easily. Today i had to give it 1/4 throttle and it took longer than usual. What's up? Jetting issues? ps- This only lasted for a little while then i could give it full throttle like normal, but it still wouldn't start at full throttle.

please help.:aargh4::sad2:

start off cleaning your carb, & see if the fuel filter has biodegraded, just bypass the junk stocker & get an inline from an auto parts store, it'll be a lot better

I had engine trouble the same as you .I keep looking at my see threw aftermarket filter, after taking the engine apart replacing gasgets and rebuiling the carb. I replaced the 4 dollar filter, it was clogged in the center. Also check and or replace your pulse line. Check that your wires have not gone bad at the boot. Replace the plugs. Good luck

OK cool. Thanks for all the responses.

I'll clean the carb really well and put on a new fuel filter.

If that doesn't work...
We'll look into the '08 SJ...

On the battery/starter issue, a new battery and swapping your starter with one from a Sea-Doo 580 would probably solve those issues, along with checking your battery/starter/ground cables for corrosion. The Sea-Doo starter supposedly is stronger and more reliable, plus you can get them cheap. Cables corrode over time internally, they may look fine but inside will be horrible.

Well, the starter really isn't an issue. And I have a battery cut off switch, so I use that and the battery holds a charge. My main concern is how difficult it is to start, and the carb stuff

I forgot!
both 550's i got here do the same thing, i ususally dissconnect the battery when not in use or the battery is dead. the skis are so old and the electrical systems/wires deteriorate and from what i can tell, cause a drain on the battery. usually when i hook up the battery it will spark the tiniest little bit like it is drawing current, i just live with it cause its not worth fixing IMO
