I was thinking of going with an sbt cylinder exchange with cast sleeeved cylinders and nikisil plating is defiently not in my budget. It didn’t drop a power valve, but there is an peice of metal that was floating around while it was running. It looks to me as a peice of piston ring(it’s lodged in the head) possibly from overheating or something of that sort(based on the scoring). i’ll take pictures of the head and cylinder to see if i even need to replace them. Are you sure it didn't drop a power valve into the cylinder? The power valve 2 stroke motors Yamaha built for the watercraft industry were not the most reliable being known for dropping power valves into the motor and trashing the pistons and cylinder walls. There are some upgraded retaining clips for them called Wave Eater clips but there's a lot of response on those too saying although better, they're not a cure and the problem still exists. Your best bet is to find out exactly what went wrong first. While I am a huge advocate for going premix I'd be more concerned about how much is the rebuild going to cost first, you might just bail on the whole thing if it's not within your budget. If memory serves, I believe the cylinders are Nikasil plated not sleeved which means they'll have to be sent out for re-coating as most places are not setup to do that.
