300/440/550 buying modded x2 - what do u think

ok, i am in the process of purchasing an 88 X2, fully restored a few years ago, it was in splash magazine ( a long time ago !), hull/paint, graphics, seat, mats are in 10 condition.

engine is a 750 conversion (dont know internal mods), dual carbs and arrestors, aftermarket head (not sure of brand), westcoast pipe/waterbox, westcoast oversize tank, umi steering and bars, westcoast ride plate, pump i dont know if its bigger or not, skat prop, all in are in 10 condition externally from the looks..........jettrim modded seat, gator grip mats, etc, etc

the ski has been sitting for about 2 years, i dont know how the engine looks as far as if there is any rust, obviously my plans will be to flush tank, pull carbs and rebuild or clean, change fuel lines and pull head to see condition of engine.

is 1500 too much ?

oh, also comes with trailer, pontoon kit (very very rare), 2 life vests, storage box and alot of extra parts (exhaust, seat, etc)

this will be my back up ski and i was looking for a winter project.

so its a fair deal then

Does it have dual exhaust? There is an outlet is on the right side? And the decals are the 94/95 decals. Are you sure its an 88? If the pontoons are included, you can ebay them for atleast $150.... so consider that off thge price as well.

I noticed the e-box wasn't 94/95 style. I would say he just changed the graphics. I would say 1200 is fair. Like a friend told me once when I sold a dirt bike. I said I wanted 2000. The guy talked me down to 1700. Well it did need some repairs and I needed the money more than the bike. My friend said you know he came with 2000 cash, you should have said you wanted 2200 then took 2000 for it. People will alway try and talk you down! Try to get him to knock a few hundered off at least. I always figure it will cost me 100 to get it registered in my name.

But it does look like it has a lot of goodies on it. I would buy it.

it might have a 550 waterbox. thatd explain the outlet location.

make sure you put a checkvalve on the last nipple on the fuel tank. i cant really tell, but it looks like theres nothing there (only 3 hoses/4 nipples).

eel or anyone else, what type of which fpp pipe is that and what mods as far as what manifold and will i have to weld any mounts on there, whats needed to make it fit....i think i will trash the westcoast pipe for FPP, but still not decided on what model FPP pipe..any ideas ?

The FPP 650 pipe.

You can use a SJ "B" Pipe chamber but you will have to heat and melt the gas tank some to get clearance.

A FPP Wave Blaster Limited pipe will fit too but I think it will need a little welding on it to make it fit right.

That pipe on the yellow Aussie X2 was a rare FPP that is impossible to find so count it out.

I am going to try a WB FPP Limited chamber when I get around to it...

X2 Guy had a FPP 650 chamber for sale, 100 bucks + shipping. You can then just buy the head pipe from FPP. Would be cheaper and easier then trying to get FPP to sell you a new 650 pipe setup for $400.

Good luck. Search the forum, there are several threads about FPP pipes on X2's.
