So I am in the process of cleaning up my ski and I am going to run new wires so that I can clean up my engine compartment and hopefully have a ski that runs. Does anyone know where I can buy color coded wire by the foot/yard? I've found one spot not too far from my home but they only sell 14 AWG and larger wire, what do you guys do? Just buy a $6 spool?

Lowes now carries spools of tinned marine grade wiring for pretty cheap. You'll have to look for it because it was rather hidden when I found it.

You can purchase marine grade wire from sources like West Marine. Get the marine grade type because the wire comes tinned already. This prevents corrosion.

no but really only thing i dont suggest is home wiring...
what i do and due to the fact i work in a car audio shop , get the wire from Metra. they have some GREAT wire. very flexable and not stiff at all. its like as flexable as shoe lace
