Buying a SJ is Cali possible?

Yes I know buying SJ's in CA and NY is illegal. Is there any loop holes around this?

My buddy works at the local motorsports shop. They pretty much sell everything. They give me good discounts so I was trying to think of any way I could buy a SJ from them. I asked them and they said they can't sell them.

So here are a few questions.

- Could I buy the SJ at my buddies shop and have them deliver it out of state...to my lake house or something? Or could that be considered buying a SJ is CA since I paid for it in CA?

- Can I buy a SJ out of state but still register it in CA?

- How much are new SJ's selling for?

- Would it be start to buy a SJ from a dealer that isn't close to water...maybe they would give a better deal?


I'm just trying to think of ways around this non-sense law.

I called two dealers in Las Vegas, one in St. George, UT, and one in AZ. They all said MSRP. The guy in St. George said he woudl work me a deal. The guy in Vegas said all the Cali people are buying them like crazy. I guess he sold 3 in the last month and just got two more in today that sold a week ago. That guy said something like $8000 out the door. That's so much for a SJ IMO.

They all said they don't have any used ones. The guy in Vegas said he has never seen a used one come in.

That's what I told the guy on the phone. He laughed at me and told me to go somewhere else and find it cheaper.

Out the door, the ski in the back of the van, how much should I have to pay?

Buy a used one for around 3500 and get is shipped from anywhere in the us for around 500 and save 4000 over buying a new one in Vegas...

mine for 7k fully loaded. and oh ya it reg in az. suck s cause i have to pay a whopping 4$ to the fish and game every other year. buy iy from arizona get it reg by the lake house in az get it from parker yamaha or havasue anything. if you want the 08 its msrp+tax told me the same thing on a brand new 07 last year. called around even had cash even that's why i bought used 06 in az. she i a fresh water ski in mint. .02 oh ya welcome to the board its addicting

ya your right more like crack

but. it is prob the most insightful website and what the internet is here for such a good avenue to inform and teach new ideas and old tricks of the trade. there has been countless times where i have had a question. it was either run the the net or call the dealer lol what do you think i pick every time.
