I am on a budget. I am moving to the lake here in a few months. I am wanting a ski to ride in the flat water 95% of the time. Can I build on on a budget to do flips and rolls? What year model is the best? What motor? Need some direction to get started. Thanks for the advise in advance.

lol, if you had 20,000 then maybe. Have you ridden standup before? Dont let us discourage you. Join is in the sport, just dont think $2000 will have you back flipping ever let alone over night. $2000 will get you the pump you need though

$2K will get you a square nose Superjet, with a few mods...

Your best option for the money...

I agree, and you can build on it continually as money permits. Make sure it's a 701 and if possible, already have a couple good mods like a B-pipe or head. $2K should get you a pretty decent ski.

If you do find something with footholds or reinforcing be very carefull and thorough with your inspection. I would rather buy a bone stock hull and do the work myself just so i know it is done right. It's far more work to redo a hack job than just doing it right the first time.

If you're not working yet, stay away from machines requiring high octane fuel. Killer machines aren't worth anything if you can't afford the fuel to run them.

Working on a real tight budjet means you have to become very crafty and develop mechanical skills quickly. You can find a motor less square nose Superjet for $300.00-500.00. Look around for some good used motor (from a sitdown with a seized liner) and parts to get it together. The pond you will be riding in is fresh water, so there should be less issues with that. It will get you on the water but won't be doing "backflips".

Fast forward to next year....., strip down the hull and sell it for the $300.00 U paid, then buy a inexpensive stunt hull, put the drivetrain in that and BR and BF all day.

Most of us started out the same way...You can learn a lot.

Find a nice 96-07 RN & build on it. You can flip a stock ski with footholds in the surf, but flatwater your talking a lot of money.

Check this video out, thats a 30K + ski!!! But it will sure do nice flatwater flips

LOL That's like showing a Top Fuel Dragster to a kid asking what to get for a first car that he can also take to the track on weekends. The better answer is a Mustang, not a Funny car. It's good to dream though.

I give lucas another 2 rides before he's stringing at least 3 backies together.
