Build a Superjet or a Predator

This is my first post and I have been a long time lurker to this form. I was able to get some tray time on an old SN and was hooked.
So basically this is the point I am at. I am trying to decide between buying a new or used superjet or building a predator. I mostly would be riding in the Niagara river boat chasing and Lake Erie surf when I can, also I would be taking some trips down to Florida. My questions are, would a predator be over kill for boat chasing? Also how would a predator handle chop? Any input would be appreciated!

I have a budget of like 12k. And from the searching around on the forum I see that the predator get some really good reviews and everyone seams to love it. If I remember correctly one person said in their build thread that they wished they had skipped their superjet days. It was this post that kinda made me think to start a predator. I guess what I am try to avoid is building something that leaves me wanting more.

If you can find a good deal on a modded Superjet for a good price- that's a good start. Ride it for a season and use it as a donor ski for a winter build. Little parts nickel and dime ya and add up quick. But if you can try to ride as many hulls as you can. Don't just buy a predator because someone said they liked it, you may not like it. There are tons of options out there. But if this is your first ski I would opt for a nicely built SJ, just my 2 cents.

I think that is probably the best bet to start with a superjet too. And to learn my way around the ski before I make the jump to an AM hull.

I love my Predator, decent all around boat, AWESOME surf boat!!

That being said I highly recommend riding anything before you spend that kind of money.

A predator will chase boats just fine, handles chop better than it handles smooth and glassy at full speed.

I have a predator your more than willing to come down and ride for a day. I also have a JB1 that i have for sale for a customer that comes loaded with goodies. Feel free to message me with specific questions
