I bought a 2001 RN a couple years ago as a rough hull and am building it up as a stock restoration. But I have a running 1991 SN I just bought so I have something to ride and a bunch of 2-stroke seadoos. We are typically at Lopez in the summer because it is so close. So, yes, that is a RN being painted.

Made a lil more progress on the steed tonight.. gunna be a couple late nights trying to get the motor and pump and everything else in by this weekend but its gotta happen. Cant thank everyone enough for the help to get this thing the way it is now. Im beyond stoked!

So i finished up the ski this weekend and it looks great. Got the motor and everything dropped in, went to start it and nothin. Messed with it for a day and cant get it to start. I need some help. It turned over for a minute then stopped. It was clicking from the starter solenoid so i figured it was bad. I ended up replacing the starter solenoid, the relay, the battery, the starter, and the ground and positive cables and wires, the cdi and plugs. Tried putting in a new master ground wire but it still just clicks from the solenoid, is there something im missing?

By "solenoid" do you mean the bendix? Is it clicking at the flywheel or the ebox? Hook the battery straight to the starter and see if it turns over.

That or the bendix is locked up jamming the starter. Id smack the starter with a mallet if you can get it in there, have to pull on the flywheel cover to see if your bendix is locked.

Yes i am getting 12volts to the starter. That would say its the starter right? I just replaced it with a known good starter tho..
Check the ground cable? Is it connected to the starter bolt? Maybe a bad connection. Can you rotate your drivetrain by hand to be sure its free? Pull the plugs and spin it at the coupler. Sounds like you are bound up somewhere. When you're sure it is free... Use jumper cables and hook the starter straight to a battery. I like to do this before I take the time to install a used one. It'll bout jump out yer hands if it's good.

Okay i tried smackin the starter and got nothin so i pulled the flywheel cover off and the bendix is clean and moves freely, i can easily engage it by hand.. but nothin happens other than a click from the starter solenoid. Even if i try to jump the solenoid with a screwdriver i get nothing.. im totally lost..

The grounds good and tight. I even checked the resistance on the cable. But when i connect the battery straight to the starter nothing happens.. your probably right, i need to just order a brand new starter huh!

Probably so. Or a good used OEM. Take yours apart and see what it looks like. I bet its toast.

Hey all So I finally started on this build a few months ago and im starting to get some progress so i figured its time to start a thread to get some input from you guys. The X made me go for it!

So i started out with a 1991 squarenose. The plan was to rocker the front, cut a few off the rear, chop the hood, move the pole forward and throw some sponsons on it. Thought it'd be a pretty quick lil project but damn was i wrong. 3 months in and barely half way there but i found more motivation to get this thing done. Hopefully be ready to ride by the pismo freeride in march!

Let me know what you think!
Sorry half the pictures are upside down or sideways idk why it uploaded them like that.

Heres what i started with:

Super - i plan to do same style this year - was thinking the same way - only the sides of the tray will let it high - easy to jump on it
