I know several people are going to say "I told you so", but my road frame cracked the headtube just over 2 weeks ago. Top/bottom cracks were around 1/2 the total length and since it's aluminum, the frame was junk.
I bought a Motobecane (bikesdirect) Fantom CX cyclocross frame/fork and Cane Creek cantilever brakes and swapped the rest of my stuff over to it. ~$300 total to switch over to a stronger frame with rack mounts for the light touring I want to do. I had just bought the new compact crankset, so eventually I'll upgrade the shifters and wheels, but I'm very happy with my setup.
The frame is very very nice, allegedly a rebadged Fuji, even has the diamond shaped downtube the Fuji Cross Comp has. It feels a little more relaxed and the steel fork definitely smoothed things out over my old aluminum one.
