I am in the process of rebuilding a '94 FX1 that looks to have spent its whole life on the coast. The hull looks a little thin on the bottom from 14 years of beaching...it isn't soft anywhere (at least not soft enough to flex it with my hands) but when I put a flashlight up against the bottom and look inside the bilge I can see the light in a couple spots. Its the ski my G/F will be riding along with being my backup ski so it will not see heavy use, my question is should I worry about reinforcing it? Internal or external? Or just ignore it?

I would. Better safe than sorry.I found a soft spot on the SN yesterday under the gas tank. I am just gonna lay some 17 oz biaxial on the inside. It's my son's boat. If it was my wife's, I wouldn't bother. :sneaky:

Tap on the hull with something like a silver dollar or large washer. A flat sound indicates interlaminer shear. The only problem with repairing it is getting to the disbonded area since it lies in the middle of the laminate. You should be able to sand out the damaged material from the inside and restore its strength without having to do much if any body work.
