boreing out and modding carbs

well somehow ive managed to get myself a wee collection off spare carbs (44 sbn,46sbn , 42 keihin cdk11 and a 40mm keihincdk11) and i was thinking about trying to bore one off them out to around 49-50 mm. just wondering if anyone had done this before or just some genral pointers for doing it im not to worried about stuffing one off the carbs up . wot carb out off my wee collection would you use .
it would be used on my x2 that im trying to build into a surf weapon ive got a single 46sbn on it at the mo , im staying away from twin carbs on the x2 just as the are a arse to fit and tune
any help would be cool guys

thanks hulka ,yeah i will be useing a lathe im a mahinest by rade so im not to worried about the machineing part and yes i know the jetting could be fun from past experance

you'll want do do some mods to the venturi also. I recommend trying to bore the bottom out to 48, getting a 48 throttle plate from riva, and taking the top to around 50 ish.

i was going to make my own throttle plate when i do this , wot sort off mods do you make to the venturi and that . ive never seen a modded free style carb here in new zealand parts like that are real hard to come by thats why i was thinking about doing my own . any advice for if someone has some pics off a modded carb would be real cool

My suggestion would be to use the 44 for your experiment. Personally, I think the 46 is a good match for a single setup on any motor from a well-prepped 701 to 800cc (Yam or Kawi, if set up for freeride).
