got my motor outta my ski cuz im reinforcen the hull/refoaming/painting/non stop money spending/etc.... while its out i decided i wanted to clean the motor up and paint it so as im taking it apart i figure i myswell dab into some motor work while its out and rebuild the top end. i bought it with a b-pipe, msd ignition enhancer, and ada girdled heads w/ 35cc domes. now im kinda new to jetski motors, ive rebuilt dirtbikes befor an all that so what am i looking into here?? i want some more power outta this thing. only other motor mod i got so far for it is vforce delta 2 reeds and i got some money to throw around so whats some options?? port/polish? bore it out? i appriciate any info

port the motor, buy a metal base gasket, bore out to 83mm pistons. this will give you very close to 200 psi and make that motor run pissed off. check you squish before you run it.

ok sounds like an idea but what about getting a 760 cylinder? from wat ive been reading seems like they bolt right up and i could still use my ada head and b-pipe. wouldnt that be a little easier cause i could just hone it out and throw new piston and rings in it an call it a day? or is there more involved in that swap out like changing carbs and all?

you can do anything, the 760 will need the cases opened up i think, the 61x cylinder works very well with 83mm wiescos, metal base gasket, 35cc ada domes. porting can be done by you with a template. i thought you wanted to use what you have to make it actually rip. if your going to buy cylinders......then anything goes.

yea ill prolly just stick with the 61x. seems like ppl are saying the 760 mod is hard to tune and what not. what about boring it out to an 84mm? i seen xmetal has a freestyle ported top end kit an theyll port ur motor and theyll bore it 81-84. is 84 leaven u with no more room if u score the sleave?

again, yes you can bore to 84+, i though you wanted to use your current 35cc domes. if you don't want to use what you have, there is no limit to what you can do.

okok i here ya. all i wanted was to make this thing rip with out puttin a stroker crank in it. thinkin bout jus senden it to xmetal for there 771 big bore kit. seems like theyll resleeve it, do all the porting, do the cylinder decking, and include new domes/pistons/rings/gaskets/etc for 1280. unless i can get atlantic jet sports to do it for cheaper since there local. any1 heard any good or bad bout that set up? and can u run stock dual 38 carbs with it?

the 771 seems like I good engine I just never had riden one. Not bottom line budget motor as you will want/need some more bolt on parts for a motor like that. Just pick the shop you like and give them a call and tell them what you want and your budget. Just get fresh 82mm pistons with a fresh bore and freestyle porting for xmetal, jetworks, etc. You wont have to worry about bigger carbs or anything like that and those builders will be able to tell you jetting specs that will be perfect. If you do want to change your carb setup I can say first hand I have some 38's that Art and jetworks blackjacked and those things rip and I think it was around $170 a carb and that included jetting so again if you on a budget just shop around.

budget and 48's and total loss should not be in the same line haha. I beg to differ. I have worked over 38's with stock intake on my stroker and an enchaner and it has more then engouh power imo. Art has told me I could get even more power out of it with 44 or 46 carbs but just saying you can get plenty of power with the right setup without spending $1000+ on a carb setup.

you spend 1000+ on a carb setup that you get to keep forever........or you can mess around with all them smaller carbs, and then buy the big carbs. i know how i did it.

and a stock stroke 735cc with 48's and TL will kill that setup. the stroker crank costs the same as great big carbs. tsk tsk tsk.

How about a 771 with an epic with a good curve and modified 38's

The price of a total loss and a set of big carbs with the required items can be more than most peoples budgets.

I recently tuned a set of modified 38's and was impressed with the bottom end hit and midrange. Some people say modified 38s are hard to tune but I didn't see that.

Do as your doing and talk to several reputable builders and see who can offer you the best package for the $$ your willing to spend. There are several engine configurations that will make good power; how much power comes down to what you're willing to spend.

Just send it to Team Scream or Art at Jet works. Let them know your total budget and follow their suggestions. My Team scream ported 701 rips! The 46mm carbs made a big difference over the stock 38's on it.
