Apparently if your cylinder was decked any, the girdle bolts bottom out in the cases and can't clamp the cylinder down. It was enough to pass a pressure check but not enough to completely hold the cylinder down in the abuse of riding. I noticed after my ride today that the coupler cover had fuel on it and the gasket was slowly getting pushed out from under the cylinder. I started looking real hard and noticed that the girdle nuts and washers had a slight blackness to them from rubbing and I can wiggle every one of the girdle bolts. What a bunch of :bs2:.

Rant over...If your cylinder is deck though, might want to add an extra washer just to be on the safe side.

Duh, is about the only word that comes to mind on that one. Sorry man, that sucks but if you think about it they cant make them for ever setup out there so they do for stock and other people need to make due.

I understand it's setup for a stock cylinder but do the girdle bolts really need every single thread on both the cases and all the way inside the acorn nut that 0.040"-0.050" (fairly accurate eye ball guess) of lost material on the cylinder is going to cause the bolts to bottom out?

I am trying to figure out how you torqued them down if they were bottoming out?
I had to run washers on my Big Bore that I use to run for the same reason, the top had to be decked.
