It will chip and come off. the guy I bought my ski from told me he maticulously glassed everything. after hour and a half ride this bondo was falling off like it was going out of style.
After I glassed everything and got it near perfect I had a few indents that I wanted to smooth before painting so I use the same bondo brand fiberglass filler. Same can but made for fiberglass and it is green. its made for boats. stuff works good and Ive never had another issue.
there are probly better things out there but this was my experience. dont use auto filler though.

^^^ What he said. Regular body filler (aka Bondo) is not waterproof, it absorbs water. What you need is the green "fiberglass filler" mentioned above. There are several companies that make this product such as Bondo, Evercoat and so on and can be found at your local autoparts store or paint supply. Works great for chips and minor imperfections.
