Can't believe after all this weight talk that not one person has mentioned hull design vs weight. Just because a hull is light does not mean that it will ride up a wake smoothly and pop out of the water like a lightweight hull should. If the hull is too short, too long, too narrow, etc... your confidence and agility on the hull will suffer severely and you may end up even worse off than a stock hull. Similarly, it doesn't matter how well designed the front of the ski is if the back of the ski isn't addressed and vice versa. A hull needs to be a complete package from nose to tail.

Another point I think is worth mentioning is the way Tem builds the superfreaks. Manufacturing process is where his extra cost is IMO. Vacuum bagging adds a lot of time, equipment, and materials. It also isn't something you can learn to do properly overnight. I don't care how good you are laying something up, it will never be as good, light, or as strong as the same part that was bagged. Bagging removes excess resin and drastically reduces tiny voids which are the origin of most stress cracks. In the aerospace industry, we consider a flaw to be 0.005" or about the width of a human hair. That flaw of 0.005" is enough to start a crack in normal use. So the bigger the voids, the faster the cracks show up.

I don't think your hull + hood weighed 39 lbs, did it?

I know my 140 mag makes for a few extra pounds, though. (Btw, this is just a friendly balls busting. I would love to be proven wrong on that. I know how my 241RTR rides. Can't imagine another 26 off that)
I don't know exactly where all the weight came off from, but I know I have a picture of it on the scale somewhere. I wouldn't be claiming 215 if it weren't true. I'm pretty sure the picture is on my old phone, I'll have to see if I can still hook it up to my pc.

Jace Forest...BRAP!
But to compete in FW the guys with the lightest Ski's & Biggest motors always win.. Look at WF's last year, you think that ski has a 900cc motor & 100 lb hull??? Come on thats a 50-60lb hull with a 1200 & it shows

Look at Lucas, Carbon Sub 50lb hull, 900cc motor going big... 3 flips in a row in am class....

Weight & Brap = wins

That statemaent right there is what makes comps SO boring. Oh look he just did a backflip and another one and another one and another one....and a barrle roll....and a big backflip followed by another one and another one....man that guy is really good he just did 7 backflips and a roll, one was 10' high...that's so cool........NOT!

Not trying to hate, I love these lightweight skis and big engines! I really do but to say something like weight+brap=win is lame!

I agree anymore than 3 BF's in a row by a pro is lame... But your never going to see a stock SJ win WF, those days are over...The guys at WF's that place 1, 2, 3 Pro & AM this year will be on light weight hulls with big cc motors per there class.... It's a fact with freestyle comp it's driven by money, what's Money get you? Light weight hull and brap! I agree there should be a class that requires a stock limited setup but it's not going to happen. it's really not fair, that's why I just enjoy riding, could careless to compete .

It might be a lame statement , but look at the past 2-3 years at WF and that statement couldn't be more true!

Finally wised up? Not sure that comment was really called for but whatever. My stunt hull is excellent for my riding style...not because it was made well or built well but because I have modified and fixed every little handling and design issue to suit my specific riding/wrenching needs. Sorry you guys hate my hull but that's your problem, not mine. If you've seen my build thread, you'll notice that I'm not scared to modify anything. That's one of Tem's traits too. He's not willing to settle for a hull that is only good at flatwater or only good at surf riding. He works to make a hull that will be perfect in every enviornment with every motor. That's one of the reasons why I think his hulls are the best.

I can quickly adapt to most hulls and can ride them pretty well but that doesn't mean that I like them. That said, there are A LOT of hulls that I don't like. The superfreak and my hull (now) do not fall into that category.

Dk's boat is super light and made specifically that way. If you push on the side of the boat it has major flex almost like you are going to push it in. My full carbon bob weighs 240 RTR and is structurally sound. The picture was taken in at the shop of the Ski Clinic on the day that we put it together.

I am running a small kart tank, it probably had a quarter of the tank filled. It defiantly wasn't a full tank. I believe at that time I had a deka battery or odyssey. Dk do you know what battery was in it? I forgot mine at my house that day and had to use one that they had in the shop.

Batteries and gas + tank are definitely very variable.
I initially weighed my RTR at 259 lbs with a stock tank, 2.5 gal of gas, and a 14 lb Jetworks battery.
With a Kart tank, that goes down to 254 (full tank at that point).
So, for a quarter tank, you can take 12lbs off. 242lbs.
I tried reducing the battery weight, but with my ATP TL it's not feasible to go lighter.
