Bob gen 1 or rockered and shortened sj

Location

Need opinions. Looking at a bob gen 1 and a rn sj that has been rockered shortened and tray widened. Ride at the lake and want a ski that will flip. Would like to learn some flat water as well. Both are rtr. On a budget as well. Any advice or input on what might be better?
Thanks!

The bob will flip with enough skill/motor at the lake. A Superjet is going to have to be in the ocean to flip. So if flipping is what you want for lake use the AM hull all the way. However, the bob (especially gen1) is not a good hull. Spend the extra money and buy a better built AM hull.

Thanks for the input! I personally haven't gotten to ride anything other than stock hulls so I'm new to the whole am hull market. Wasn't sure if the shortened rockered hull might be decent to learn on or if it would still be better to go am. As for the bob I know the gen 2 and gen 2 are a lot better than the gen 1 but again wasn't sure if it would be worth it or not being on a budget.

I wouldn't touch a BOB hull period. The Hurricane hull was a better generation by far. I went from a BOB gen 2 to a backie chan. Was an awesome upgrade and worth it. I wouldn't ever get one again, but the hurricane I have ridden and almost bought a few that were up for sale. The shortened SJ hull I am sure is more fun but I think those are for the people without the budget or the desire to flip

Thanks guys! Like I said I haven't gotten to ride any of the am hulls so just wanted some input and wasn't sure. They were rtr which can save you in the long run but I think I might just build one with a 701. CrazyJoesRacing I'll probably just buy a used one to save on expense. Don't have the extra money to buy a new one right now!

I think I'm the only one that thinks my Gen 2 BOB rides fine. I put a stock gas tank and extended ride plate on it and I can easily ride it at full throttle. I lost the long ride plate and had to put the short one back on and it was still good. Maybe I'm just light enough?

Personally, I haven't spent much time on my BOB, the gen 1 this thread is about.

All I can say is that it is a fun little ski and everyone who rode it seems to like it.

The best built hull? No not by any means but its still a budget friendly freestyle hull.
