Please don't type in all caps. It looks like yelling.

What did you pull the BN44 off of?

Why are you using a BN instead of a SBN? A SBN44 is only $50 and well worth the cost.

Better, how? Not any easier to tune, I think.

Anyways, since it's from a 550, leave the needles alone until you try it.

Normally, 1 turn out for both is a good starting point. It all depends on the jets.

What size jets?

Try it.

I read the late model 550s came with a BN44 while the early ones came with a BN38. It might already be setup for you.

EDIT: You'd be best getting a SBN44 if you're gonna mod it. U may not be able to get enough fuel through with the stock BN44 carb.

The Old Skool Professor
the BN 44 was used on the 550 starting around 85'

when i built my 440 in the 80's thats all we had and they worked fine.

it will work fine for what you are doing.

turn the screws out 1 to 1 1/2 turns and adjust them from there.

put new plugs in it and keep a eye on them. the should look paper sack brown. if they are black you are rich white you are lean.
