Super Jet Blowsion Destroyers?

just got a set of these.....

when installing iv heard some people put them flush with the bottom of the ski and some put them a little higher up?

whats the difference between the placements?

Somebody else will have to chime in on this to confirm. But from what we read before installing some on my buddies RN, was if you install them flush with the bottom, it makes the ski a little more squirrely when riding straight and fast (which is also the hardest trick in freestyle)

So that being said we installed his as per instructions and they work awesome. Others have said they like the Tom21's and #0's better, due to stability. << Both of those are the same, just different names. And both awesome guys here on this board.

I installed destroyers on my Rn and mounted flush with the bottom of the hull, if had to do it over I would mount them up against the bond line instead for the reasons stated above

Another bit of info that may help. When I installed mine I also used the marine grade sealant 920 Blowsion suggested around the bolt holes and around the perimeter of the tubbies. Problem is I can't remove them now... if I do I most likely will destroying them as Ive already tried. When I called Blowsion on how to remove them they said they are no longer recommending using sealant for this reason. So my suggestion is to not use any sealant just the thru bolts

Mount them up as mentioned, not flush with the bottom and use silicone to seal. Its a pain in the ass to clean it off to be spotless but the sponson can be removed if you want. Doubt you will ever take them off though. Very solid improvement.

Ok, I went to start installing them today.....however the they only fit flush a little further back then what the directions call for and the Directions also talk of Drilling holes???.....didnt do anything today i emailed Blowsion and waiting to see what they say....

Thanks man! I've never ridden a ski with tubbies so got these for the reason they are removable and not permanent.....
Ya me too, but the not permanent part is a bit of a farce with drilling holes and all, if I could of got mine off I was going install a bolt with a pan head to plug the holes. Did you get the installation kit they sell? If I remember right it was sold separately but I forget now.

yes sir. flip the hull over and measure/mark where the tubbies are supposed to go. then line them up and drill the holes. epoxy the octagon pieces onto the inside of the hull and then bolt the sponsons on. it can be confusing and seem difficult at first but it becomes very simple once you do it. after 3 or 4 sets its incredibly easy

Like it stated above its a little nerve racking drilling holes in your hull for the first time. Seems crazy but it works. My ski was completely put together so I pulled the b-pipe chamber, gas tank, water box, battery and tray. I think I remember leaving the noise foam in though, the front tubbies thru bolts and hull nuts when installed will be slightly behind the foam. I just pulled it back some to epoxy in the nuts. On the exhaust side of the hull, the rear most tubbies thru bolt will hit your b-pipe chamber if you have the b-pipe, I cut that bolts length down to clear the pipe. I remember mine not fitting flush either when placed where the instructions said. I forgot I have reinforced bond rails so mine might not go up any higher. Here's some pics of mine. The pic of the bolt is not the cut one...image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpgimage.jpg

ok, so when it comes to drilling after you drill with the 5/16 it says to go back with a 1/2 is this accurate?....to me that looks noticeably bigger than the piece that will be going though the hull

The half inch sounds to big, if i remember correctly i did drill with two differant bits but iam not thinking the second was 1/2 inch. i believe i still have my instructions and can double check. iam at work so about 1.5 hours from now

I'am still double checking. Question: seems like I remember the octagon nuts having a raised center boss that will go into the drilled hole. What size is that boss? That should be equivalent to the final drill size if my memory is correct, but I'll still look for mine in a bit

1/2 inch is the correct size - I just installed mine two weeks ago. I was not happy about drilling holes on my 2014 Superjet !! I will suggest that you use a new drill bit for the 1/2 inch - and use a 115 volt drill unless you have a powerful DC unit. I followed the instructions saying to use a 5/16 bit first, then enlarge with a 1/2 - my bits were dull and my DC drill was week - almost screwed up the hull as the drill was trying to walk on me and the bit was getting stuck!! If I was to install again I would buy a bit that is tapered from small to large instead of trying to enlarge the smaller hole with a bigger bit. I placed the tubbies where the instructions say and I am extremely happy with them - big difference for me - will never take them off. WOT is much smoother and the handling in waves is much better.

Harbor is correct - the raised center is 1/2" allowing the hex to seat properly against the inside hull
