Blown Crank Seal

My daughter was riding my SJ yesterday and managed to flip it over and fill everything with water, when she got it turned right side up, she hit the starter and it was hydrolocked, by the time that my brother made it over to her and drug it in for her the ski was sunk and completely full of water.

I was going to take it out today and make sure everything was alright but I noticed that the crank seal was out of place. I am thinking that the amount of water in the engine caused it when she hit the start button.

On the good side, the inside of the cylenders look pretty good for having 4 years on them.

Yeah, I am sorry, I should have said that I cleaned them before taking the picture, they were kinda black but not too much, I think all of the water that ran through it while I was pumping it all out cleaned them up a little bit, then I cleaned them with a rag when I got the head off.

I think I am just going to send the whole thing to Keith and have him check everything out, just for a piece of mind.

I guess I should mention that by the looks of the inside of the pipe that I dont really think it is running lean, looks pretty rich to me.

tear that engine apart immediately if it hasnt been run after being hydrolocked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you NEED to get any and all water off the crank before it forms any rust. it could be too late already.

I did get it running out at the lake and rode it long enought to realise that there was a problem, then loaded it back onto the trailer, maybe a total of 5 minutes, I am hoping that is long enough. Do ya think I should empty a can of WD-40 into it just for good luck?

I am going to build a crate today and send it to Keith Head and have him go through it, he is the one that built it, but yeah, before I box it up, I will spray a whole can on everything, prolly take the cylender off so I can spray as much as I can in the crank and hopefully getting some on the bearings.
