Would you recommend a Yamaha Wave Blaster or a Kawasaki X-2 for playing around and freestyle type riding?

Blaster, Better engine setup (more reliable, tons of mods for it, and best of all, more powerful. I also like the look of blasters more too. Go yami platform

I honestly like both but I have to agree on the blaster taking the cake on this one. Bigger engine, bigger pump, more aftermarket parts available for the Yamaha platform since it's similar to the superjet, and I think it's a much better setup from the factory. I do like X2s but to build an X2 you basically just need the hull and the rest gets modified for good reason. The Blasters need a lot of mods also IMO but are a better package out of the box.

After riding both, I love my dad's x2 the most for sure. Handling feels more like a dirtbike and after adding an intake grate and ride plate its a blast to ride. It does leave a 750 big pin motor to be desired power-wise though.

Yep X2 for sure. But you do just start with a hull. They need a 750 of 800 motor and the right prop pipe and carb setup. To get it fun they need power and power takes money.
Stock vs stock they both suck but blaster sucks alittle less stock. The blaster need a pipe prop and carb setup to get everything out of the motor.
The main advantage the blaster has is that 144 pump. The x2 and all kawis including the SXR have 140 pumps and it leaves alot to be desired. But a Kawi with a big hub swirl prop cut for the 650 style pump give new life to the little guy.

X2 is a better freestyle ski period....they are cheaper and there is lots of after market parts to make the little 650 ROCK

I like X2s and have nothing bad to say about them but you are sooo wrong about Blasters only being good for turning and going fast... My avatar is on my blaster! Have you seen Zimmy ride his B1? He is upside down all day on that thing when hes in surf!
