Blaster shaft, it is bent? (poor quality video)

So, does this look like a bent shaft?

The impeller housing is bolted in, pump assembled, and the seal between pump and shoe is removed.

There was only one shim on the port tab for the nozzle. You can see the gaps in the attached photos.

I am wondering if I have a bent shaft because when I went to install my setback concord impeller, there was resistance every half turn. You can see in the last pick that I think the impeller is rubbing in the stator.

just an fyi, there is adjustability of the exit nozzle. you should have the exact same space for either side of the bolts. loosen up the four long bolts and try it. the last thing you should bolt on is the exit nozzle.

Do you mean the bolt only the impeller housing and place the stator to the impeller housing and turn the shaft?

Or are you talking about shimming the (aluminum) nozzle?

i was talking about the nozzle? but yes you align by putting the impeller housing in first then put the pump and shaft in. then bolt the nozzle to the housing, then shim accordingly. i can't tell by the video if it is bent or not.

The drive shaft is wobbling a little but if there is resistance with every half turn of your drive shaft. I would say that you might have a problem with the bearings in your stator or the impeller was cut back too much causing it to rub? Try removing the impeller and see if the resistance is still there.

Also there are some small shims that go between the reduction nozzle and the hull.

... got me thinking...

The resistance is only when my brand new solas concord -3mm by impros is installed (which is fine on the superjet). My Skat, no resistance. Last season, I had the bearings and seals replaced in the pump. So I doubt it's the bearings or seals. It appears the 2 "washers" did not make it back to me from the shop. You think that could be the cause... if the impeller rubbing the stator, which I think it is.

I turned the shaft by hand with no impeller and the reduction nozzle unbolted, so there are no shims but it may need more (as seen in pics).

with a 3mm cutback you may need to use the stock washer behind the impeller.the stators all vary slightly.some need the washer, some dont this is what i was told by impros when i ordered my first concorde.if you dont want to run the washer you can file the stator wherever it rubs and run it like that.hope this helps:biggthumpup:

Sounds like butti has the answer.

I doubt that your shaft could be bent, but you could always find a machine shop who could test the runout for you on a jig.
